Journeyman Electrician

Summary/Objective

We are looking for an experienced, licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and installation. The successful candidate will be responsible for reading blueprints, installing and repairing wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills & Functions

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment.
• Inspect and test electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine the layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems to identify problems and make repairs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of conduit bend and wire pulls. Install conduit for wiring.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, machines and tool. Including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with National Electric Codes, electrical theory.
• Familiarity with high voltage three phase circuits, generators, transformers and switch gear.
• Ability to use various testing devices related to electrical and mechanical trades.
• Answer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfort.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of lock-out/tag-out program with regards to OSHA 29 CFR 19190.147 control of hazardous equipment

Physical Demands

• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to climb, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, walk, turn, pivot, push, pull, reach overhead and stand for 8 or more hours a day.
• Must display excellent time management skills, be able to work with little or no supervision and communicate regularly.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures indoor/outdoor, depending upon season.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to hear well, naturally or corrected.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00a.m.  However, Evenings, Overtime, Saturday and Sunday may be  required to meet business demand.

Work Environment

Working environment may include indoor/outdoor sites and will require constant vigilance and care. Frequency in exposure to dust, protective finishes, mechanical parts, electricity, noise and vibration.

Travel

May be required with the use of a company vehicle.

Requirements, Education and Experience

  • Must show eligibility to work in U.S.A.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completed electrician apprenticeship and valid Journeyman License.
  • Proficiency with the National Electrical Code and local codes.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug test.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and staff.
  • Minimum of 5-year relevant work experience in an industrial setting.
  • Must have basic tools to complete tasks in this trade.
